Welcome to my convolutions...

The whole idea of liberalism is that you can think what you want. Ideas are not evil, it's the repression of ideas that is evil.

I confess my own brain has confused, ambiguous and evil thoughts. I hope and pray I know the difference, but can never be absolutely sure. Most of it doesn't make any sense, but I always figure it was normal neuroelectrical activity. I don't censor my own brain, that would lead to neurosis and perversion. Empowering the negative, as it were.

True evil comes from repression. All the negative emotions, like anger, vengeance and victimhood come from repression. And you impose repression on yourself, it comes from the inside. Repression causes people to behave sociopathically and call it normal, like Victorianism. That is why I call myself a Liberal. No censoring of thoughts.

List of concepts:

What is most important to absolutists is not the result of action but rather righteousness of purpose. Absolutism is at the base of fundamentalism, because one's own perfection is the only criterion for judgement.

The efficiency of agribusiness is based on good numbers (profit). All other considerations are irrelevant. Good numbers are very seductive to investors and customers, but like so much of the preocccupation with quantity it ultimately is at the expense of quality.

I am a little surprised at how liberals agree unanimously that the educational system is not serving the needs of our children. Conservatives, on the other hand, accuse schools of being mouthpieces for liberal agendas, such as socialism, sex education (horrors!) and evolution.

Passion for the cause makes anarchists want to eradicate all opposition. It's a common symptom of socialism, seeking the evil in your own community and casting them out

The more I learn about genealogy I realize it is a lot like the ancient "pagan" religion of ancestor worship. Genealogy is like Kabbalah, the closer you look the more it resembles a sort of monotheistic shamanism.

Tonight is Halloween. It seems odd, almost pathological, that American and western culture in general has a holiday to honor death.

There is something pervasively wrong with modern life. The wrongness is so pervasive that it's invisible to the typical modern human.

Now that they own the media, fascists have taught us that totalitarianism is the true evil, not fascism. But that is propaganda, because totalitarianism is the natural result of fascism

If we were able to create "Unlimited free energy" we would generate an unlimited amount of waste heat that would be trapped here on this planet with nowhere to go

Globalization was supposed to give us superior products at cheaper prices through foreign competition, but what we ended up with was exploitative multinational corporations.

A common myth is that the universe is inherently disorganized and requires an external force to be meaningful

Okay, so Israel was born. Not of divine decree like the fundamentalists had fantasized, but of Holocaust. The dream is over, two millenia of utopian idealism gave birth to an imperfect child. What a depressing reality. Now Jews worldwide can flagellate themselves because the world does not like them.

This is the dilemma faced by learners of a foreign language. When you hear or read a language you are learning it one of two ways:

  • "Just perceive"
  • Translate linearly as you go

Conservative thinking is marked by focus on components, not interaction. Liberals, on the other hand, recognize interaction but not components. Conservatives therefore are much more organized and logical, except that they have no overview

The Bible tells of a Garden of Paradise, a place where a tree grew, and an apple grew on the tree, and eating the magical apple gave humans eternal life. A snake dangled from the branches, whispering the secret of eternal life into the ear of all who consumed the apple

Every Messianic movement known to history has arisen in a society that has been subjected to severe stress of contact with an alien culture... involving military defeat, epidemic, and acculturation -- Peter Farb

If any of you civilized westerners think the middle east is going to conform to your idea of civilized behavior then you are sorely mistaken. The middle east has been a hotbed of hatred, internecine war and extermination for thousands of years before Europe even existed. Their collective memory is longer than we can imagine

The songwriter is like the sun, the song is content that expresses the self. The deejay is like the moon, the mix is the transition that expresses the group.

Species with social behavior are poised to take over the solar system, while species with indivual behavior are destined for stagnation. This is because group instinct nurtures members through the dependency stage of evolution, while nonsocial species allow their dependent members to die. In the grand scheme of evolution, this may be the overall purpose of social behavior

Many time persons with an ostensible disability have valuable abilities in other areas. The stigma of disability, however, always seems to prevent making those gifts useful

Nihilism is the belief that we (or anything) would be better of not even existing rather than to be imperfect. Nihilism is the base of both Religious Absolutism the Artistic Urge, which causes humans to create perfection in everything.

Ayn Rand was a self-absorbed egotist, also known as "objectivist". She blamed all human failures on government, since her belief system was a sort of modern-day economic despotism

And if you think government has no role in creating a quality of life, then I suggest a trip to the third world

The Garden of Eden story is neoconservative in its moral cynicism. Humans are stricken and a failure, and require an authoritative male god figure to be redeemed. The accursed humans were cast out of paradise to eke out a meagre existence in a hostile and competitive world

    More:     Concept/Patriarchy

When female sexuality is controlled by males, the result is unlimited offspring. This favors the male tendency to warlordism, since he then has unlimited soldiers to fight his battles

I have a rather intense appreciation of all the human races. Unfortunately, even mentioning the positive aspects of a race will earn you the label "bigoted racist".

    More:     Concept/Race

Everything we are is a result of compromise. We live at the crux of a conflict, like a tree negotiates the space between heaven and earth. It's the place of adolescents, that ambiguous area of plasticity where all things are a confused mass of potential.

"Sentimentalism" was an ideological movement back in the 1800's that denied the value of progress and upheld primitive people and their lifestyle as "uncorrupted by commerce". They were like the Luddites, but rejected social progress rather than technological progress

Looking for the origin of the Supreme Being takes us back to the hunter-gatherer stage of human evolution, a time when imaginary "agents" were responsible for all causuality in life.

Freshness is the curse of demand-side economics. We have too much production, stores are packed with perishables with an expiration date, so nothing is fresh anymore. You typically buy a product that was produced 9 months ago that expires in 3 weeks, and it's already rancid when you eat it. All the symptoms of supply-side-economics run amok.

All this cowering at at the constant threat of attacks reminds me of the beaten wife syndrome. America is behaving like a beaten woman who anticipates the next beating, and has made an entire religion out of the abuse

    More:     Concept/Terrorism

Science is essentially nihilistic in its belief that the universe is dissipating. Religion is essentially delusional in its belief that some supreme being has a plan. The truth is out there, somewhere in the grey area
